What are Safety Sitters?

We have found that a “security guard” sitting with a patient can give off negative effects and overwhelming feelings to most family members and staff. Countless times we have seen security being used but isn’t always the best solution.

Our Safety Sitters/ Companions have one goal; to ensure each patient is cared for, monitored, safe, and secure. By providing this service, we meet safety and risk compliance expectations and ensure direct patient care is not compromised by overworked or minimal nursing staff ratios.

Where are these services used?

Hospitals and Long-term care facilities in Nova Scotia are facing increasing demands on its staff to improve quality, increase patient satisfaction, and reduce cost. DTM Safety & Security offers a customized patient observation solution through our Safety sitter/ Companion services. We minimize the non-clinical functions that nursing staff perform for require done-on-one patient observation resulting in enhanced patient care, enhanced patient experience and a better bottom line.

Accountable Performance & Guaruntees

We hire and retain Safety Sitters/ Companions who are qualified to support patient care. Our program secures performance accountability through 15 – minute documented observations reports and patient observation shift reports. DTM Safety & Security enhances patient care, safety, and the patient experience.
